She was predeceased by: her parents, Monnie Hogan and Frank Hogan; her son Philip Ernest Hancock; and her grandson Shannon Jay Hancock. She is survived by: her spouses, Ernest D. Hancock and Arthur M. Terry; her daughters, Sylvia Hancock Ussery (Robert) of High Point and Gaylene Hancock Rice Piper of Durham; her daughter-in-law Wanda Saunders Hancock of Greensboro; and her grandchildren, Deana Hancock Adams (Rick), Monnie Ussery, Lea Ussery Dixon, Renee Rice Snyderman (Ralph) and Philip Rice (Janet). She is also survived by her parents and her four brothers.

It was Mae's request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to First Baptist Church of High Point, 409 N. Main Street, High Point, NC 27260 or to Dover Baptist Church, 2527 Dover Church Road, Seagrove NC 27341.
