He was predeceased by: his former wife Shirley Batts Bell; and his siblings, Willie Bell, Ralph "Buddy" Bell, Ceyna Bell, Retha Walston, Marjorie Taylor and Dorothy Mooring.
He is survived by: his wife Joan C. Bell; his children, Donnie Clyde "Bucky" Bell (Pamela) of Stantonsburg, Terry Lynn Bell of Burlington, NC and Tonya Bell Watkins (Allen) of Watery Branch; his stepdaughter Angela W. Smith (Jason) of Wilmington; his sister Nell Bell Lagowski of Arizona; his grandchildren, Michael Bowers, Donnie Clinton Bell II (Autumn), Michelle Chamberlin (Andrew), Allen Bell, Lexi Bell, Ashlyn Watkins, Annabelle Watkins and Addison "Abigail" Watkins; and his stepgrandchildren, Makayla Smith, Colton Smith and Blake Smith. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
