He is survived by: his daughters, Tina Hughes (Dennis) of Spruce Pine, NC and Tammy Garland (Douglas) of Bakersville, NC; his siblings, Emma Jean Grindstaff of Bakersville, NC, Betty Gardner (Lester) of Bakersville, NC, Randy Gortney (Melissa) of Bakersville, NC, Danny Gortney (Melanie) of Bakersville, NC and Darren Gortney of Bakersville, NC; his stepfather Clarence Gortney of Bakersville, NC; his grandchildren, Tiffany Ledford, Danielle Garland, Ashley Kerlie, Dakota Garland, Alexis Garland, Kedren Hughes and Kylee Hughes; and his great grandchildren, Kennedy Breedin, Emma Breedin and Ava Kerlin.
