He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert "Bob" Vance and Betty Pate Pafford. He is survived by: his stepfather Ted Pafford; his sister Lynn Vance Hinshaw (Larry) of Banner Elk; and his nephew Jake Hinshaw of Boone. He is also survived by several cousins, aunts, uncles.
