He was predeceased by: his parents, Avery Pitman and Willie McKinney Pitman; and his siblings, Wayne, Jerry, Jimmy Pitman and Peggy Aniello.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Goins Pitman; his children, Guy Pitman (Linda) of Spruce Pine, Marvin Pitman of Spruce Pine, Shelly Buchanan (Bradley) of Spruce Pine and April Sparks (Victor) of Spruce Pine; his grandchildren, Scotty, Emily, Noah, James and Caleb; and his siblings, Terry Pitman of Nebo, Maxine Burleson of Spruce Pine and Lois P. Rutherford of South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to; St. Jude Children's Hospital.
