He was predeceased by: his parents, William Edgar and Christine Haire Griffin; and his siblings, Sarah Griffin Hayes, Wayman, James, Woodrow, John, Paul and Gene Griffin.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Griffin; his children, Darlene Pittman (Michael) of Spring Lake, Diane Yandle (Tony) of Sanford, Carla Pruett (Frank) of Sanford, Gale Jacobs (Jerry) of Spring Lake, Dale Griffin of Spring Lake and Scott (Nancy) of Vass; his grandchildren, Charles Ward, Crystal Ryan Callahan, Amy Morris, Jonathan Gonia, Marissa Thomas, William Lane, Ashley, Amber, Jerry Jr., Bobby Jacobs, Trinity, Tristyn, Trenton Griffin and Dylan McAvoy; and his brothers, Charles and Robert Griffin. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.
