He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, George Gay of Washington and Bettie Louise Harris Gay; his wife Betsy Dunn Gay; his sons, William Anthony Gay (Kim) of Wilmington, Robert Paul Gay (Melissa Dixon) of Fremont and Steven Jeffrey Gay (Jodie) of Micro; his siblings, Alice Faye Martin of Snow Hill, Virginia Lancaster of Richmond, VA and Melvin Ray Gay (Ida) of Kinston; his grandchildren, Kelly Wood, Jamie Lynn Wood and Maddison Wood; and his great grandchildren, Adeline Wood and River Bayles. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
