He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilma Fry Hardy and Herbert Wallace Hardy. He is survived by: his wife Hope Browning Hardy; his children, Andrew Wallace Hardy and Rachel Stevenson Hardy; his granddaughter Kayeleigh (Brewer Hughes); his great grandchildren, Kohen and Oakleigh of Cedar Point, NC; his grandchildren, Casen of Greensboro and Taylor of Emerald Isle; his siblings, Artie (Linda), Barbara Lynn (Nelson), John and Seth (Kathy); his close friend Archie; and also Doris Hall. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
