He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Manson Lawing, Sr. and Eva Lackey Lawing; his wife Betty Searcy Lawing; and his siblings, Ethel Bridges, Verlie Leatherwood, Hugh Lawing and Perry Lawing.
He is survived by: his daughters, Claudia Stroup (Matthew) of Shelby and Lisa McDowell (Tebin) of Shelby; his grandchildren, Hannah McDowell Kiser (Zack), Cameron Stroup, Brandon McDowell, Justin McDowell and Landon Stroup (Madison); his siblings, Morrison Lawing (Shirley) and Carolyn Wood; and his sisters-in-law, Janet Lawing, Betty Lawing and Rebecca Searcy. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (120 N Lafayette St, Shelby, NC 28150). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
