He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Smith and Joyce Dowell Smith. He is survived by: his wife Denise Smith; his children, Zeke Smith, Daphne Smith and Melissa Smith; his stepchildren, Shane Miller (Juliann) and Holly Miller; and his siblings, Dion Smith, Tim Smith, Alvis Smith and Teresa Freeman (Todd). He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
