He is survived by: his wife Barbara Trexler Lyerly; his children, Jamie Lyerly and Jim "Short" Lyerly (Jill); his grandchildren, Graham Lyerly and Haley Lyerly; his sisters, Linda Lambirth (Bobby) and Helen Hoffner; and his aunt Margaret Alsobrooks.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church, 2570 St Peters Church Rd, Salisbury, NC 28146.
