He is survived by: his wife Christine Steadman Byrd; his children, Melody Byrd of Fredericksburg, VA, Alice Edge (Kevin) of Maysville, NC and Lucius Byrd (Shellie) of Chinquapin, NC.; and his siblings, Neil "Bud" Byrd of St. Pauls, NC, John Byrd of Elizabethtown, NC, Cecil Byrd of Fuquay-Varina, NC and Rosa Edge of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
