She was predeceased by: her parents, Johnnie Lester Polston and Florence Gertrude Jackson Polston; and her husband Richard Smith. She is survived by: her son Bennie Kinlaw (Lynn) of Lumberton; her stepsons, Stephen Smith of Georgetown, SC and Michael Smith; her daughter Pennie Jones (Frank) of St. Pauls; her sister Geraldine Lee (Billy) of New Bern; and her grandchildren, Christopher Kinlaw, Joanna K. Cole and Frankie W. Jones. She is also survived by four step grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
