He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest "Cotton" Long and Gracie Mildred Jordan Long; and his siblings, Tracy Dale Long, Donnie Darrell Long and Sharon Long Winstead.

He is survived by: his wife Deborah Rogers Long; his children, Tracy Long (Tracy) of Elon and Michelle Long (Eric) of Milton; his brother Neal Long (Crystal) of Roxboro; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn East, Kacey Long, Tanner Anderson and Skylar Chance; his stepgranddaughter Tabitha Whitman; his great grandchildren, Elizabeth East and Raylan East; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, McKenzie Langley, Haiden Langley and Hunter Whitman.
