He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ira Jefferson Johnson Sr. and Effie Louise Gresham Johnson of Rose Hill; his wife Dorothie Ashley Johnson; and his children, Robert K. Johnson (Cora Johnson) and Dorothie Louise J. Willson (John Ward Willson).

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church, Music on Market Street, 1416 Market Street, or the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center.
