He was predeceased by: his father Thomas Franklin Cordell; his wife Ruby Sue Kesler Cordell; his son Tommy Cordell; and his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Cordell. He is survived by: his children, Martin Cordell (Dinah), Adam Cordell, Chad Cordell (Erin), Dusty Cordell (Alyssa) and Crystal Swicegood (Duane). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
