He was predeceased by: his parents, Percy Gibson and Mabel Vaughn Gibson; and his siblings, Elvin Gibson, Dallas Gibson, Warren Gibson, Bettye Ferrell, Norma Rachel Gibson and Jerrene Elliott.

He is survived by: his wife Patsy Carter Gibson; his children, Leigh Harris (Matthew) and Matt Gibson; and his siblings, Kenneth Gibson (Glenda) and Cora Joyce (Don).
