He was predeceased by: his parents, James Simpson and Emma Eves Simpson; his wife Gloria Ann Simpson; and his siblings, Howard, Robert, Lawrence and Ethel.

He is survived by: his children, Lynn Culler of High Point, Anthony "Tony" Edward Simpson of Charlotte and Donna Loring (Craig) of Brown Summit; his grandchildren, Jessica, Amber, Hannah, Emily, Mallory, Brooke, Ashlyn and Michael; and his great grandchildren, Nolan, Alex, Fabian, Jorge, Lazaro and Xochitl.
