She was predeceased by: her spouse Dallas Gates; her parent Malma L. McKinney; and her brothers, Malma L. McKinney, Jr. and Charles E. McKinney. She is survived by: her parent Janie Womack McKinney; her children, Deborah J. Gates of Burlington, Cathy G. Vaughn (Jim) of Garner and Garry P. Gates (Kathy) of Elon; her grandchildren, Amanda Gates, Carey French (Bobby), Anna Williams (Ben), Chris Vaughn, Louie Vaughn and Laura Gates; and her grandmother Nana.
