He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Stone and Massie Stone; and his wife Mary Stone. He is survived by: his children, David Rudolph Burnette of Burlington, NC, Vickie Edwards of Chapel Hill, NC and Cheryl Denise Cureton (Michael) of Durham, NC; his siblings, Fulton Headen of Pittsboro, NC, George Stone (Forestville, MD) and Dalton Stone of Pittsboro, NC; his brother-in-law Lenon Brooks of Pittsboro, NC; and his grandchildren, Taiwana Burnette of Pittsboro, NC, Jermaine Evans of Pittsboro, NC, Moriah Cureton of Durham, NC, Zaquetta Henderson of Mebane, NC and David Cureton of Durham, NC. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
