He was predeceased by: his wife Lillian Joyner Bennett (Joy); and his daughter Joy Bennett. He is survived by: his parents, Bert Lester Bennett Sr. and Corinna Johnston Bennett; his children, Bert (Beth), Graham (Janice), John (Jeanne), Louise, Terry (Steve), Ann and Jim (Marianne); and his spouse Slim. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Wake Forest University, Forsyth Technical Community College or St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
