With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Derrick Lowry (Pembroke, North Carolina), who passed away on July 23, 2022 at the age of 49. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his father Millard Lowry, Jr.; and his grandparents, Ella Jones, Reda McMillian and L. J. Jones. He is survived by: his mother Shelia Jones; his wife Tara Kay Locklear Lowry; his children, Erika Brooke Locklear of Pembroke, NC, Derrick "DJ" Lowry and Marcus Landon Lowry; his siblings, Tyler Lowry (Molly) of Charlotte, NC, Lauren Lowry of Charlotte, NC and Shawn Jones of Washington, NC; and his aunts and uncles, Kathleen McMillian (Don), Ramona Oxendine, Tina Jones, Chris Boutselis (Connie) of Prospect, Blaine Jones (Tammie) of Prospect, Dwayne Jones (Paula) of Pembroke, Lynn Carlos Jones and Charles "Moose" Lowry of Prospect. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
His service, talent and contributions to the sports world led to his induction into the James Gang Hall of Fame.
