He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Deal and Myrtle Patterson Deal. He is survived by: his wife Norma Shears Deal of Norwood; his children, Melvin M. Deal of Laurinburg and Sanda Deal Carter (Edward) of Georgetown, SC; and his stepson Glenn Humbert (Meleta) of Shallotte.
