He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Columbus Johnson and Minnie L. Marlow Johnson; his son Sammy Ray Johnson; his siblings, Helen Johnson, Louise Johnson Anderson (Ray) and Harl Marlow (Bertha); his siblings-in-law, Rufus Combs and Roselee Marlow; and his close friend Spanky.
He is survived by: his wife Etta Mae Swaim Johnson; his son Bobby Richard Johnson (Ginger Edmiston) of North Wilkesboro; his siblings, Shelby Johnson Dunton of Greensboro, Cora Lee Johnson Combs of North Wilkesboro and Luther Marlow of Sparta; and his nieces, Barbie Anderson Bowen and Brenda Payne Cardwell.
