He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. James Garfield and Lucille Miller Cardwell; and his siblings, Geraline Cardwell, Greta Cardwell, Carolyn Cardwell Houck, Clyde Cardwell and James Cardwell.
He is survived by: his wife Audrey Elledge Cardwell; his sons, Kevin Cardwell (Christian) of Millers Creek and Kelly Cardwell; his granddaughters, Haley Cardwell of Purlear, Hannah Cardwell Ortiz (Adam) of Purlear, Courtney Pierce (Ben) of Purlear and Madison Boyles (Jake) of Millers Creek; and his siblings, Geraldine Eller of Wilkesboro and Steve Cardwell (Sandra) of Millers Creek. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
