She was predeceased by: her parents, James Garfield Cox and Effie Almeda Cox; her husband Elwood Pierce; and her siblings, Mary Burleson of Virginia, Grace Barbee, Jewel Eakes, Christine Crumpler and James Curtis Cox.
She is survived by: her children, Mary Jo O'Barr (Ken) of Goshen, KY, Curtis Pierce (Sarah) of Eden, NC and Susan Vannoy (Tom) of Purlear, NC. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
