He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Lee and Fannie Frances Osborne Roten. He is survived by: his wife Sheila Shumate Roten; his daughters, Traci Roten Hewes of Graham and Kelly Roten Graham (John) of North Wilkesboro; his grandchildren, Haley Kaya Graham, Roy Carter Hewes, William Gradyn Graham and Davis Jackson Hewes; his brothers, Kenny Roten (Linda) of Frankfurt, KY, James Roten (Jim), Robyn Starr of North Wilkesboro and Gary Roten (Rebecca) of North Wilkesboro; and his sisters-in-law, Melinda Haynes (Keith) and Lisa Dowell.
