He was predeceased by: his parents, Walker Thornburg and Nellie Vines Thornburg; his wife Juanita Ward Thornburg; and his siblings, Betty Stott and Hank Thornburg.
He is survived by: his daughter Pam Thornburg of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Jack M. Thornburg, Jr. (Stephanie) of Boone, Todd Thornburg of Boone, Elizabeth, Nicki, Katie, Leah and Ethan; and his great grandchildren, Melanie and Gavin.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
