He was predeceased by: his parents, James Calvin and Leona Johnson Doby; his siblings, Monroe Doby and Marie Goodson; his niece Marvine Easter; and his nephew Dean Goodson.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Morgan Doby (Patty); his nephews, Woody Goodson of Lowgap, NC, Willard Goodson of Galax, VA and Jimmy Goodson of Mt. Airy; and his niece Betty Jean Stone of Mt. Airy.
