He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover Cleveland and Ida McNeil Hamby; and his wife Annie "Ann" Childress Hamby. He is survived by: his children, Lynn Hamby of Moravian Falls, Annette Hamby of North Wilkesboro, Lisa Church of North Wilkesboro, Rev. Mike Hamby (Sherri) of Wilkesboro and Robert "Bobby" Childress (Debbie) of North Wilkesboro. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
