He was predeceased by: his parents, William Harlan Carpenter and Clarice Carpenter; his brother Michael Carpenter; his granddaughter Haley Calhoun; and his close friends, Lawrence and Ted Buchanan.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Carpenter; his daughter Suzanne Calhoun (Mike); his grandson Ethan Calhoun; his foster daughter Georgette Blackford (Henry); his brother Richard Carpenter (Terri); his caregiver Chris Corbett; his nephews, Mikie Carpenter (Lori) and Jesse Carpenter (Rachel); and also, Miriam and Sylvia.
