She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, David Henry Jernigan and Whitfield Jernigan; her husband Garland Deal; her sons, Robert Rex Cottle and David Clarence Cottle; her siblings, Jimmy Jernigan, Marvin Jernigan, Margaret J. Wall and Helen J. Garner; her son Avery Lee "Sonny" Cottle, Jr. of Faison; her daughters-in-law, Susan Cottle of Coats and Lori Cottle of Calypso; her sister Doris J. Ellis of Mount Olive; her granddaughters, Jessica Cottle, Sarah Cottle, Brooke Cottle, Cindy Blegen and Wendy Murray; and her great grandchildren, Lily and Rex. She was also cherished by four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
