He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Bryant and Rossie Fowler Bryant; his wife Dallas George Bryant; his son Derrick "Scoop" Bryant (Karona); his siblings, Peggy Bryant Boone of Durham, Rev. Elbert Fowler of Clinton and Glen Fowler (Edith) of Westbury; and his siblings-in-law, Rachael Carlton (Dwight) of Warsaw, Leo George and Donald George of Warsaw. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

“My deepest sympathy to Peggy and Ray's wife and the entire Bryant family. Ray was not only my first cousin but was also a role model for me. When I was a youngster growing up in Clinton, N.C. I always enjoyed when Mother and Daddy would take us over to Uncle James house to visit. We always had a great time. I enjoyed watching Ray play basketball for the Sampson High School Rams.
