He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Elbert and Minnie Lee Cook Wood; his wife Betty Jean McBride Wood; his son Kevin Lee Wood; his sisters, Reba Wood Hill and Leona Wood Hicks; his nieces, Norma Hill Hawks and Linda Hicks Barker; and his nephew Charles Edwards.
He is survived by: his son Alan; his daughter-in-law Barbara Wood of Mount Airy; his niece Pamela Edwards Arnason (Terry) of Mount Airy; his nephews, Preston Hill (Susan) of Pilot Mountain and James Edwards (Cheri) of Hampton, VA; and his caregivers, Maudie Ramsey, Diane Walker, Maggie Coe, Tina Carte, Haley East, Delma Bryant, Donnie Riggs and Elizabeth Brendle.
