He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Lee Shelton, Sr. and Cassie Joyce Booker Shelton; his wife Thelma Irene Hanks Shelton; and his siblings, Betty Lou Shelton Tyft and James Gray Shelton.
He is survived by: his children, Janet Shelton McPherson (Bob), Jill Shelton and Gray Lee Shelton (Mary Jane); his granddaughters, Laura Shelton Shores (Timothy), Amanda Shelton Brooks (Brandon) and Julie McPherson Gurley (Brad); his great grandchildren, Gray Daniel Shores, Evan Michael Shores, Anna Kate Shores, Wesley Mitchell Brooks, Brayden McKay Brooks, Samuel Howard Gurley, Victoria Lynn Gurley and Russell Robert Gurley; and his sister-in-law Julia Ann Shelton.
