He was predeceased by: his parents, Rosco Jewell and Kathryn Jewell; his daughter Shelia Jewell; and his stepchildren, Mary Jo Pollack and James Robert Pollock.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Waters Jewell; his children, Dwayne Jewell (Susan), Barbara Holton (Mark), Lisa Puckett (Victor) and Joseph Pollock (late Elizabeth); and his sister Evelyn Jewell. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren.
