He was predeceased by: his parents, William Tell and Rosa Smith; his former wife Dorothy Sue Reese Smith; his sons, Ricky LeRoy Smith and William LeDon Smith; his stepchildren, Vicki Covington and Randy Wimberly; and his siblings, James David, Anna Belle and Mildred.
He is survived by: his wife Sarah Smith; his son Shannon Smith (Robin) of Bear Creek; his grandchildren, William Joseph Smith (Tori) of New Hill and Tabitha Smith of Morehead; his great grandchildren, William Jase Smith, Wyatt Joseph Smith, Ella Reese Smith and Tegan Carolyn Smith; and his stepchildren, Danny Wimberly (Marie), Theresa Parker (Mike) and Luann Turlington (Rodney).
