He was predeceased by: his parents, John Franklin Hefner and Dollie Mae Moose Hefner; his sisters, Evelyn, Diane, Margaret and Rebecca; and his granddaughter Brittany Hefner.

He is survived by: his children, Marty Hefner (Donna) of Vale and Tina Carlisle; his siblings, Victor Hefner (Twyla) of Catawba and Connie Hughes (Troy); and his grandchild Seventeen. He is also survived by Seventeen Great-Grandchildren.
