She was predeceased by: her parents, Roscoe Lee Gilbert and Mary Isabell Tucker Gilbert; her husband Carl L. Whitesides Jr.; and her siblings, Gladys Hull, Victor L. Gilbert and Herbert H. Gilbert.
She is survived by: her siblings, Lynda G. Beard Maiden, Jerry W. Gilbert of Maiden, A. Roscoe Gilbert of Maiden and Anthony "Tony" W. Gilbert of Lincolnton. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
