She was predeceased by: her parents, Lester Smtih and Grace Parker Smtih; her daughter-in-law Nantahala; and her brothers, Floyd Smith and Lester Smith, Jr..
She is survived by: her husband Harry Abernethy; her children, Amy Greene (Scott) of Hickory, Carroll Abernethy (Susan) of Maiden and Donnie Abernethy of Maiden; her sisters, Kathleen Roberts of Wilmington and Faye White of Vale; and her grandchildren, Sarah Greene, Samuel Greene, Daniel Greene, Rachel Greene, Carter Vinson, Emory Vinson and Tatum Vinson.
