She was predeceased by: her parents, Hildrey Loftis and Mildred Smith Loftis; her former husband Leon Gwynn; her son Darren Gwynn; her grandson Wyatt Morton; and her siblings, Ricky Loftis and Joyce Heath.
She is survived by: her husband Charles "Chuck" Carter; and her children, Daryl Gwynn (DeAnna) of Reidsville and Darla Morton (Kenny) of Hubert, NC. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
