He was predeceased by: his parents, George Tharrington and Mildred Tharrington. He is survived by: his wife Joann; his children, Lee Ann and Joseph; his brother Steve (Gail); his brother-in-law David (Judy); and his granddaughter HalleAnn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Zebulon Baptist Church or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
