She was predeceased by: her parents, Zebulon Vance and Ludie Brakefield Smith, Sr.; her husband Jack McCraven Abernathy; her daughter Teresa Abernathy Henley; and her brothers, Zebulon Vance Smith, Jr. and George Hennies Smith.
She is survived by: her daughters, Cyndi Noles (Mark) of Cramerton and Jackie Chapman (Scott) of Lincolnton; her son-in-law Andrew "A. J." Henley of Cherryville; her sister Martha Smith Curry (Lee) of Myrtle Beach, SC; her grandchildren, Lacie Chapman Norman (Kevin) of Vale, Tyler Chapman of Crouse, Matthew Noles of Washington, D. C., Bayleigh Stroupe (Wes) of Charleston, SC and McCraven Brooke Henley of Cherryville; and her great grandchildren, Holden McCraven Norman, Ashtyn Chapman and Raelynn Patrice Norman. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
