She was predeceased by: her parents, Roy Burger Sr. and May Nixon Burger. She is survived by: her husband Sven; her son Samuel Byerly II; her granddaughter Sara Jordan; and her siblings, Emily, Julia, Barbara and Roy Jr..

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
