He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert M. Smith and Ola Mae Price Smith; his wife Naomi A. Smith; and his sisters, Sylvia Smith, Barbara Robertson and Janet Anthony.

He is survived by: his sister Linda Wilkie; his nieces and nephews, Anita, Kellie, Dreama, Madge, Mark, Mike and Robbie; his grandson Kaleb; his close friend Berchie Atwood; and also, Donna Mauser and Sandy Lowe.

“Dear family of Ried, I was blessed to be his Sunday School Teacher. Fellow congregate, and Friend. I was with Ried at the Church when he told me that he thought he was saved, but the lesson that morning convicted him. Ried got with Pasltor Raymond Spann at the alter and confessed Jesus, and received him. Praise the LORD JESUS. I thought this would be a comfort to the family, that Ried made everything right with the LORD. We will miss Ried, but he is with his LORD for evermore. John Carlisle”
