He is survived by: his wife Sue Bowers Hartso; his children, Marvin Daniel Hartso III of Durham, Jonathan Bowers (Heather) of Chapel Hill and Suzanne Bowers Smith of Chapel Hill; his grandchildren, Olivia Bowers, Gabrielle Bowers and Jon Bowers Jr.; and his siblings, Cecil Hartso (Dottie Hartso) of Lenoir, Mark Hartso (Johanna) of Lenoir, Cathy Hartso Dula (Jeff) of Lenoir, Tammy Hartso of Lenoir and Peggy Hartso Lopez (Osney) of Lenoir.

The family respectfully requests that covid protocols be followed and masks will be required.
