It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Everette Shelton of Lenoir, North Carolina, who passed away on January 23, 2022, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Shelton and Louvina Shelton of Marion; his wife Alma Shelton; and his brother Leonard Shelton of Granite Falls. He is survived by: his daughters, Doris Shelton (Kenneth) and Teresa Hamrick (Glenn); his siblings, Ruby Foster (Raymond), Ruth Vance (Willis), Clifford Shelton (Barbara), Junior Shelton (Juanita) and JC Shelton (Amanda); his sister-in-law Linda Shelton; his grandchildren, Lorie Hallford (Michael) and Joseph Hamrick (Heather); and his pet Lilly. He is also survived by four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or Lenoir First Freewill Baptist Church.
