Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved James Edward Witherspoon of Lenoir, North Carolina, who passed away at the age of 80, on January 13, 2022. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Clinton and Ruth Johnson Witherspoon; his siblings, Myrtle Witherspoon (Nancy), Charles Witherspoon and Ruth Swafford (Rufus); his aunt Freezie; his uncle Gene Patterson; and the mother of his children Ruby Patterson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Amanda Witherspoon of Lenoir and Deanna Gainey (Barry Clark) of Hickory; his granddaughters, Miranda Gainey of Greensboro, Jasmine Clark of Hickory and Ebony Clark of Hickory; his great grandchildren, Zariah and Amira; his close friend Sally Shell; and his sister-in-law Ann Witherspoon of Lenoir. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a. m. until Noon prior to the service at Bass-Smith Granite, and Face Mask are required.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Green Hill Church.
