He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbert Caldwell Sr. and Laura Woodard Michaux; and his siblings, Rev. Myrtle "Pig" Carlton, Montrose Harshaw, Frank Caldwell, Sonny Boy Caldwell and Frank Rutherford.
He is survived by: his son Michael Perkins; his siblings, Della Mae Gibbs of Morganton, Kay Shade (Clyde) of Charlotte, Brenda Tugman of Charlotte, Diane Michaux of Charlotte, Tina Parsons of Lenoir and Wilbert "Buddy" Caldwell Jr. of Lenoir; and his uncle William "Bill" Woodard of Morganton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws, sister-laws, cousins, and friends.
