He is survived by: his wife Lillie Owens Chavis; his children, Milton Anthony Chavis, James Matthew Deal (Karen), Wanda McCarthy and Haylee Raye Chavis Cook (Johnny); his grandchildren, Destiny Reigh Ann Chavis, Milton Tate Chavis, Adrianna Faith Chavis, Allyson Katelyn Chavis, Anthony Len Chavis, Charles Houston Chavis, William Phillip Chavis, Samuel Padon Jones, Rodney Morton Jr., Annabella Nicole Heffner, Isabella Michelle Heffner, Cameron Cheyenne Locklear, Serenity Jade Deal, Jessica Nicole Bartley Jackson (Craig), Johnathon Brisco Bartley (Hannah), Jolee Mae Cook and Josie Raye Cook; his great grandchildren, Annabel Jean Bartley, Eliza Jane Bartley and Greyson Alan Brisco Bartley; his siblings, Rose Ellen Oxendine, Vivian Ann Miller (Julius), James Ellis Chavis and Thomas Calvin Chavis (Lizzie); and his stepsiblings, Mary Lois Bull, Jeannett Sheppard, Gladys Lee Locklear, Nathan Oxendine and Rosco Oxendine.
